US: BMW`s ReachNow Car-Share Service Is on the Way

BMW has recently announced the introduction of the ReachNow car-share service in Seattle, United States, the service following the tremendous success it had on the European market.

BMW has launched the ReachNow program in the US in collaboration with Sixt, and offers short- and long-term rental, chauffeur and delivery services, being available as well to different important companies or corporations.

BMW AG’s member of the board of management, Peter Schwarzenbauer, stated in an interview: “With this service, we are building up on Drive Now, our extremely successful European business model, and bringing it up to a new level in the USA. Seattle is an innovative, internationally-oriented city, which makes it the perfect location to launch these services.”

In Seattle, BMW is starting the program with 370 BMW and MINI cars, out of which 20 percent are BMW i3 cars, and will set a regular charge rate of 0.49 dollars/minute and a registration fee of 29 dollars. However, right now the German based carmaker is offering an introductory rate of just 0.41 dollar per minute and a free of charge registration. The prices include electricity, parking fees, taxes or insurance.

The same Schwarzenbauer concludes: “We are currently witnessing an extremely exciting period in the development of the automotive industry. Our customers rightly expect uncomplicated and fast solutions to their individual mobility needs, especially in metropolitan regions. This is why we are supplementing our classic business model with additional services that make life on the road easier for people in big cities.”
