2023 BMW X7 Facelift (G07)
The 2023 BMW X7 G07 has received a facelift. After almost 3.5 years, the brand’s largest Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) from BMW has undergone a considerable update to continue its objective of competing with the Mercedes-Benz GLS. It initially appeared on the market in 2018 to do so.
The Exterior Changes in 2023 BMW X7 Facelift
The G07 BMW X7 facelift now has a considerably bolder exterior than ever before, which is where the most noticeable improvements can be observed. The grille is still as big as before, and it now has new vertical bars with chrome accents in addition to a bi-color appearance. If discretion is a priority, it can also be set with the Iconic Glow package, which will illuminate it with cascade lights that can be turned off via the iDrive menu.
Modified Grille and Running Lights
The modified grille in G07 BMW X7 facelift is complemented by horizontally split LED headlamps, which have standard adaptive matrix LEDs in the bottom half and a slender upper piece for daytime running lights and indicators. The limited space is available due to the stacked design, tiny, vertical slots are cut out of the bumper right below the main lighting unit.
Lower Modifications in the Car
The lower apron receives large angular features that frame the lower intake, and the bumper itself is reprofiled to have contours that direct air into those side inlets. BMW offers the option to get roof rails with an aluminum satinated finish as standard. The strips that go from the air breathers to the side skirts and backward can be trimmed in either chrome or aluminum. While the G07 BMW X7’s face has undergone a significant transformation, the sides remain largely the same.
Upscale Interior of G07 BMW X7
The favorites row has been removed, just like in the i4, and the little panel below the touchscreen now only holds the danger light button and defogger controls. Additionally, the air vents have been redesigned, with those in the center of the dash being significantly thinner than previously. Depending on the aesthetic package selected, On the passenger side, an illuminating ambient light bar with an X7 or M graphic connects them.
The BMW Curved Display, which is already present in other BMW models, including the i4 and iX, is installed inside the 2023 BMW X7 facelift. In the large SUV, the system consists of a 14.9-inch touchscreen and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster that are both powered by BMW Operating System 8.
The center console in G07 BMW X7 facelift still has the same drive mode buttons, iDrive controller, and other vehicle controls, but there is now a little switch in place of a traditional lever to change gears.
Seating in BMW X7 Facelift
The BMW X7 facelift still comes with three rows of seats in a 2-3-2 configuration (seven seats) or a 2-2-2 configuration (six seats) if two individual seats are requested for the second row. The boot has a capacity of 326 liters with all seats in place; however, that capacity rises to 2,120 liters when the second and third rows are folded down.
Mechanical Upgradation in New BMW X7
Moving on to the 2023 BMW X7 facelift’s mechanical parts, each of the engines that are available has a 48-volt mild hybrid system that fits an electric motor with 12 PS (12 horsepower or 9 kW) and 200 Nm of torque inside the casing of the automatic transmission’s standard eight-speed Steptronic Sport gearbox (with Launch Control and Sprint functions). All engines also come with xDrive all-wheel drive.
The mild hybrid system’s battery, according to the German automaker, is located inside the engine compartment and is charged through energy recovery during coasting or braking phases. Depending on the driving conditions, it feeds the electric motor with an output increase, and in the case of the xDrive40i, it also enables purely electric driving at very low speeds.
Power and Drivetrain
The 3.0-liter turbocharged straight-six engine of the xDrive40i, one of three types offered at launch, runs on the Miller cycle. 380 PS (375 hp or 280 kW) and 520 Nm (may be temporarily increased to 540 Nm) are the engine’s outputs, up 47 PS (47 hp or 35 kW) and 70 Nm from the previous engine, according to BMW. This variant’s 0-100 km/h time is 5.8 seconds, and its top speed is 250 km/h.
The xDrive40d is another six-cylinder option and comes with a 3.0 liter straight-six turbodiesel engine that produces 340 PS (335 horsepower or 250 kW) and 700 Nm in BMW X7 facelift. However, when the mild hybrid system engages, the output can be momentarily enhanced to 352 PS (347 hp or 259 kW) and 720 Nm. With the highest speed of 243 km/h and a century sprint time of 6.1 seconds, it isn’t nearly as quick as the xDrive40i.
Driving and Parking Assistance
The BMW X7 facelift now has more advanced safety and driving aids. For instance, when turning left or right, the front-collision warning system now also alerts the driver to incoming traffic and informs them of pedestrians and cyclists who are coming up from the front or rear parallel to the road.
Along with Lane Departure Warning with active lane return, Speed Limit Info, the Driving Assistant package, and exit warning function, front crossing traffic warning is another new feature that lowers the risk of collisions at intersections.
Active Cruise Control
In comparison to passive cruise control, active cruise control has a stop-and-go feature and works with route monitoring and Speed Limit Assist. The list of functions expands even further when the Driving Assistant Professional package is added, adding a new Lane Change Assistant and Steering and Lane Control Assistant (includes Active Lane Change and Merging Assistant).
The Reversing Assistant is enhanced with the optional Parking Assistant Professional so that it may record steering actions for up to 200 meters (up from 50 meters) and then repeat them in reverse.
