UK Review: All-New BMW M2 – Is BMW`s Most Enticing Model?
BMW has recently released its latest model of the M series; one that has been making waves in the market – the BMW M2. The new M2 is the smallest and least expensive of the M cars, while the M2 Coupe carries a design of two-door compact coupe. With stunning looks, a tradition of racing in its name and numbers, and an inherent excitement that has been toned down since the M3’s increase in size, the M2 is making a compelling argument for being the most engaging BMW you can currently buy.

Styling
Even the base BMW M2 doesn’t look like any other BMW 2 Series on the road; you can tell right from the outside that this car is different. Compared to the M package, the body kit of the M2 has been revamped with an even more aggressive design with flared wheel arches, large air intakes in a quad exhaust tips, and other M division trims.
There are so many things that I like about the design of this car but the protruding bonnet with air intake louvers suggesting raw muscle beneath really stands out for me.
On the same note, the M2 does not look vulgar or overly aggressive like some high-performance coupes tend to do; it still looks elegant despite its performance intentions. All in all, BMW succeeded in the design part, particularly in the proportions and balance that are aggressive and elegant at the same time.
Performance
This section of the car is all about performance and handling, giving buyers an adrenaline rush behind the wheel.
Below it is a 3.0-liter turbocharged straight-six borrowed from the M3/M4 lineup, which can be mated to either a six-speed manual or ZF eight-speed automatic transmission depending on trim.
The new M2 will develop 365 bhp and will be able to propel the M2 to 60 mph in just 4.2 seconds using the M DCT 7 speed double clutch transmission. This, of course, wouldn’t be typical for a car of this class, and there is no shortage of power or thrill with the BMW M2.
Acceleration is extremely hard and fast and the engine is eager to rev to the 7600 rpm redline with sweet sound.
Handling and feel of the steering are very impressive, which gives you the confidence to get deep into turns. Conducting the M2 is an experience that invigorates the senses in a manner that only a select few automobiles are capable of – It is an unadulterated adrenaline-fueled joy to cavort with.
Practicality
Given its performance prowess, I daresay that the comfort and practicality of the M2 would suffer the consequences. On the other hand, the M adaptive suspension performs quite well in averting harshness over rough roads while still giving the car a playful attitude.
The interior is nice and the cabin is fairly nicely shaped, with seats tightly bolstered. Also, its compact nature provides good sight lines and the M2 is very easy to drive and maneuver. In other words, it is as capable as any other BMW M2 on a racetrack as it is for a daily drive.
Even though it is a high-strung performance car, it does not become abrasive or difficult to live with on a daily basis like some of the other performance car offerings.
Value
Specifically, value and exclusivity are presented as the potential future of the modern classic.
In the UK, this car costs from £51,000, but compared to the M3 or the M4, it is reasonably priced, as they cost nearly twice as much.
Add to that its dazzling brightness, dazzling dynamic capabilities, and the fact that it is just as suitable for daily use as any other modern car, and the BMW M2 almost feels like a steal. It sits perfectly in the BMW’s M car range – as a benchmark model, which is the smallest, lightest, and cheapest model, but not weak in any way. Do you like this small beast?
