BMW X5 Legacy Edition Marks the End of the G05 Era in Romania
Approaching its 8-year production run, the fourth-gen BMW X5, also called the G05, is going to be available in a final special edition. The special car will only be available in Romania and will be known as the Legacy Edition G05.
This late-cycle variant is positioned as a farewell model rather than a global celebration. With G05 production reportedly ending in July, and the facelift itself only three years old, the timing suggests this edition will stand among the final examples built at the Spartanburg Plant.
Exterior
The BMW X5 Legacy Edition is highlighted at the exterior with a gorgeous Individual Maldives Blue II Metallic paint. This immediately signals that we are dealing with a special edition, with BMW reinforcing that impression by adding a couple of tweaks from the M Sport Package.
Among the top features we should mention the M front grille with headlights that adjust to driving conditions, along with the gorgeous 21-inch two-color 915 M wheels. The overall appearance makes it a really standout special edition.
BMW Romania organized a photo session in Transbucegi, Romania`s third highest mountains, to highlight the car`s exterior. Professional Romanian photographer Ciprian Mihai was the one behind the camera, bringing 20 years of experience to this exquisite project.
The images required extensive post-production, with each frame built from up to 70 photos and multiple exposures, and up to 50 manually edited layers per image, with a touch of AI used in the process.
Complete Powertrain Information
The presented article does not detail any changes brought to the mechanical setup beyond the special edition is actually based on the xDrive30d.
Pricing
BMW Romania is asking €68,900 and is offering the SUV through operational and financial leasing. However, prospective customers won`t have unlimited time to decide because the BMW X5 Legacy Edition will be available for orders until the end of March.
Conclusion
Even if this generation is approaching its end, BMW is preparing the next-gen X5, also known as the G65, with production said to begin this August. However, there are some early variants expected to arrive earlier, like the 40d xDrive or the 40 xDrive.
The lineup is also anticipated to feature the plug-in hybrid 50e xDrive, the M Performance-branded M60e xDrive, and the fully electric iX5 60 xDrive. Further expansion is projected for 2027 and 2028, including additional electric derivatives and a more powerful V8-powered X5 M, as well as a first-ever all-electric X5 M.
