BMW i8 Tuned by AC Schnitzer

The BMW i8 is already one heck of a sports car that brings together BMW’s elements of speed, style and efficiency. However, the tuners at AC Schnitzer found some improvements to be made on this avant-garde plug-in hybrid car. They have molded an exquisite body kit and wheels so as to transform this BMW into a much superior performance car.

Performance

The BMW i8 is built on the BMW Sports Wagon body concept and it has a 1.5-liter 3-cylinder turbocharged engine and an electric motor producing 357 horsepower, which is capable of going from zero to 60 mph in 4.2 seconds.

Smartly, AC Schnitzer does not dabble with the powertrain in its bid to make some significant improvements on the already impressive BMW 3 Series. However, they significantly change the appearance of the i8, bringing it in line with the car’s impressive capabilities.

They have given this BMW a new look that actually makes it appear lower, wider, and certainly much more menacing. In my opinion, it now has that visual appeal if one wants to compare it visually with other supercars in the top tier.

Design

AC Schnitzer body kit gives the i8 model a new and aggressive look in its overall exterior appearance. It follows up and replaces the front bumper with one that has a more aggressive, performance-oriented design that comes with larger intakes and winglets.

On the flanks, widened fenders and new rocker panels help to set it lower while keeping it grounded. My favorite part is the rear: As for the fact that this tremendous new roof wing arrangement gives downforce and looks cool, too, there is no argument.

All in all, the design of the kit is quite elegant and it does not overshadow the fact that it is a functional item. This is what the radical i8 should have been from the BMW manufacturing plant in the first instance.

Wheels

Often, no tuning job is done without new wheels, and for this, AC Schnitzer doesn’t disappoint. They fit the i8 with ACL2 aluminum wheels because they are light. The five split-spoke design in gloss black, further complements the i8’s arresting exterior design statement.

Also, the widths of 275/45R20 and 315/40R21 tires perfectly match the aggressive wheel arches. Well, in my opinion, these ACL2 rims provide the BMW with that extra attitude and more so when combined with the yellow brake calipers.

Conclusion

The BMW i8 was already an incredible vehicle – it packed a 374-hp hybrid powertrain as well as A-list concept car aesthetics. However, the master tuners at AC Schnitzer noted that the creation of this machine could be improved further to become an even more futuristic car.

The internet might be surprised when it sees this i8 with a new widebody kit and black wheels that look menacing.

In my view, AC Schnitzer unveiled a real masterpiece, as the firm managed to turn into an even more stunning car both inside and outside the already eye-popping BMW i8.
