G-Power Treatment for BMW X6 M50d

G-Power is one of the world’s leading tuning companies in providing apart power kits, this time the tuner turning its attention to this exclusive BMW X6 M50d, the model being packed with a kick-ass power kit.

The BMW X6 M50d is already a top-notch performance SUV as it is without any need for tuning, thanks to the car’s 3.0-liter triple-turbocharged diesel engine that delivers a massive 381 hp. And while purists argued that it already was at its most potent, the tuning specialists from G-Power disagreed.

They went to push the envelope of power and performance out of this M-badged animal.

Engine Tuning Shows That Gains Are Huge

G-Power added numerous hardware modifications to the M50d’s powerplant, which included the G-Power SK2 piggyback engine control unit.

This unleashes a stunning 480 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque, increases of 99 horsepower and 148 lb-ft over the factory setup!

I know high performance SUVs are a popular thing and these upgrade numbers blew me away.

Especially the torque output – it is simply bonkers. For reference, I can not even begin to comprehend what almost 560 lb-ft of torque would be like in a large utility vehicle.

It should undoubtedly keep you pinned to your seat as you accelerate and apply the commanding towing capabilities that make easy work of even the most challenging trailers.

Other upgrades enhance the power boost misconception While there are other features that one can upgrade on his or her device, the above are some of the aspects that contribute to the power boost misconception.

Besides the engine control unit modification, the company also revised the intake, installed a sport air intake system, and worked on the exhaust and ECU.

Also, the standard turbochargers were changed to larger units, which made it possible to achieve the ridiculous power figures.

As stated by G-Power, these two changes work in conjunction to ensure that power is produced in its optimum and backpressure is minimized to deliver better power outputs at all times per revolutions.

Given what they took out of it, they must know what they were doing, so it did look like they wanted it.

Wheels & Suspension

Of course, raising engine power by almost double would turn the SUV into a handful, without changes to address this aspect. Here, G-Power also increased the car’s ride height with an adjustable suspension system for height alongside 22-inch lightweight alloy wheels and broad performance tires.

Whereas the suspension was made stiffer and the car’s grip was enhanced, G-Power provided a perfect symmetrical balance to the overall tuning.

It is now possible for owners to get all the power and torque they desire without just spinning the tires! It is still an SUV, as you would expect in the end, but this ought to provide significantly more snap when you hammer down on the gas pedal.

High Performance Within a Utility Body

Although I’m salivating over the prospect of a 480 hp diesel SUV, the fact that you keep much of the X6’s usability in daily driving despite the extreme tuning is truly the best part.

You still indeed have four berths of a luxurious, well-equipped cabin for the four-adult accommodation. You can also use the cargo space to store your baggage, shopping mall bags, or any kind of hauling.

It is considered one of the last of the true ‘fast luxury SUVs’ – a high paced Autobahn acing machine by day, a supermarket companion by night.

G-Power succeeded in the quest to drag crazy supercar horsepower figures out of the M50d without destroying its essential character.

Well done, G-Power! This is one epic package, literally and figuratively, for the amount and size of the set is as huge as the legends that grace its covers.
