The All-New Full Electric BMW i4 – World Premiere
BMW Group presents the first fully electric premium car positioned in the mid-size segment, one so defining for BMW. The first-ever BMW i4 offers the agility and dynamic supremacy that underpin the brand’s signature driving pleasure, plus sedan-like comfort and modern functionality in a new, zero-emission, local format.
In doing so, it signals the arrival of electric mobility right at the heart of the BMW brand. The BMW i4 (G26) combines its sporty, sustainable profile with the elegant design, space, and practicality of a four-door coupe.
The weight-minimized but extremely rigid body structure includes model-specific torsion mounts, an aluminum shear panel, and a special front axle frame, all of which have a fixed connection to the high-voltage battery casing.
The car’s aerodynamic coefficient is just 0.24 Cd.
The new chassis technology, tailored precisely to the vehicle concept, uses a double-wishbone front axle with swivel bearings and aluminum control arms, while the rear axle incorporates a five-link multi-link construction.
Highly sophisticated features of the standard chassis technology – some of which are exclusive to BMW – include variable ride response dampers, rear air suspension, electromechanical steering with Servotronic function, integrated braking system, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) and wheel slip control (ARB).
The BMW i4 comes with a bespoke adaptive M suspension with individually configured springs and dampers, specially designed anti-roll bars, and a pair of front side rails, along with variable sports steering.
The new EV from BMW is a new expression for enduring sportiness, comfort, and everyday usability in the premium mid-size segment. The Gran Coupe vehicle concept combines sedan-like driving comfort with modern functionality. It has a sleek sporty design with sweeping coupe proportions, flowing roofline, four doors with frameless windows, and a large tailgate.
The large front end includes a stunning BMW grille with a discreetly integrated camera, ultrasonic sensors, and radar sensors. The slim headlights are LED-based, optionally with BMW Laserlight technology. Whatever the body color, for contrast come color accents in BMW i Blue.
Acoustic glass, an auxiliary heating and pre-conditioning system, sports seats, and a sports steering wheel come standard. An automatic climate system with a new technological approach that uses a touch-screen display and has an integrated nanofibre filter.
The large hatchback has an electric drive mechanism as standard. The 470-liter load compartment capacity can be extended to a total of 1,290 liters. An electrically extendable and retractable tow-bar is available as an option. The allowed trailer load must not exceed 1,600 kilograms.
A wide range of individualization options, as is typical of premium models, includes: seat heating and ventilation, Vernasca leather trim and BMW Individual leather trim variants, instrument panel in Sensatec and leather variants, M Sport Pro package, ambient lighting, Harman Kardon surround sound system and a panoramic sunroof with hatch. The multimedia system is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, with personalization via BMW ID and the My BMW app. Integration of personal mobile accounts into the car is made possible via a personal eSIM, which provides fast data transmission using 5G!
Around 40 driver assistance features are available. A forward-collision warning system, speed limit information and lane departure warning system come standard.
Park Distance Control and Reversing Assist Camera are standard equipment, while optional is Parking Assistant with Reversing Assistant. Parking Assistant Plus also includes features such as Surround View and Remote 3D View.
