BMW M2 Coupe Tuned by 3D Design
While most automakers are showcasing their latest vehicles at the 2017 NAIAS, which is taking place these days in Detroit, on the other side of the world, in Japan, a major automotive event is taking place in Tokyo at the same time. It’s the BMW M2 Coupe tuned by the tuners at 3D Design.
The 2017 Tokyo Auto Show is a great opportunity for tuning companies from around the world to showcase their latest vehicles. One of those standout projects was none other than the magnificent BMW M2 Coupe from the folks at 3D Design.
The BMW M2 Coupe, shown here in Pure Metal Silver, is a real highlight of the show. The model stands out with an eye-catching carbon fiber aerodynamic kit and a unique set of wheels.
The car’s aerodynamic kit comes with many important changes, which means the model now gets a front lip made of carbon fiber reinforced polymer, additional front skirts, carbon fiber side skirts, and a new diffuser and spoiler. Other changes include new lowering springs and a high-performance exhaust system.
The new aerodynamic kit is complemented by 19- or 20-inch Type III forged wheels, giving the vehicle an even more aggressive look.
The new BMW M2‘s 3.0-litre, in-line six-cylinder engine features state-of-the-art M TwinPower Turbo technology, so it develops 272 kW/370 hp at 6,500 rpm (average fuel consumption combined: 8.5 l/100 km; CO2 emissions: 199 g/km)*. Maximum torque of 465 Nm can be increased to 500 Nm in short bursts under overboost overall, allowing the BMW M2, equipped with the optional seven-speed M Dual Clutch Transmission (M DCT) and Launch Control, to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.3 seconds.
Top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h. However, in the M DCT version, the car emphasizes its remarkable efficiency – fuel consumption of just 7.9 l/100 km and CO2 emissions of only 185 g/km.
Front and rear axles are made from aluminum – derived from the BMW M3/M4 – 19-inch forged aluminum wheels with different tire sizes, and thanks to that the M Servotronic steering system with two settings and M composite brakes with appropriate efficiency, the new BMW M2 CoupĂ© once again raises the dynamic standard in the high-performance sports compact segment. At the same time, the BMW M2 is the only model in this category of sporting excellence to come with rear-wheel drive for unique agility.
