The Neue Klasse Will Be Produced at BMW Group Plant Debrecen

BMW Group Plant Debrecen in Hungary is accelerating its progress. Test vehicles are now being built as production scales up and the first near-series fully electrified X models for the Neue Klasse are now being manufactured. This is a clear indication that the company has reached the new car preparation phase for series production which is expected to begin in the last quarter of 2025.

“To commission the new plant, building the first test vehicles in Debrecen is very important,” says Milan Nedeljković, member of the Board of Management of BMW AG for Production. Being aware that vehicles in many key segments are close to series mystery, all logistics and production activities at the plant are being experimented with and enhanced under real conditions in order to facilitate the start of series production.

The Road to Series Production

The introduction of new carried models in a plant starts with near-series vehicles—an important precondition of series preparation in Debrecen. During such preparations, test vehicles also undergo all stages of car manufacturing. It also means that all logistics processes and manufacturing equipment operations performed by employees of the plant must already be optimized. These operations are unlike normal series production; they are as complex as actually performed. But they have to be supplied in the right logistics processes, although there are fewer parts offered.

Supplied and assembled to Plant Debrecen are materials, car parts, and test vehicles that are manufactured on a daily basis. Each and all the parts, along with every production process, is scrutinized and examined. Particular focus is made on the verification of innovative manufacturing systems and, in particular, the ability of manufacturing tools to interact with each other.

Further optimization options are revealed during system tests of the future vehicle model. It is also expected that, in the next few months, the emphasis will be placed on the fine-tuning of certain processes derived from the analysis.
